Treasure Hunt!

Eleven groups of new exchange students tornadoed through the HU office during the afternoon, challenged with a recycling problem: sort this waste in ten different fractions and we’ll give you a letter!

The treasure hunt was set up for all the new students to get around Lund and meet the many different treats Lund has to offer. When visiting the HU office, the groups took a few minutes to sort selected waste into fractions of stained and clear glass, hard and soft plastic, metal, pant, paper, cardboard, miscellaneous and hazardous waste. Extra points were given for taking the metal cap off the vine bottle and for placing the envelope with the miscellaneous waste instead of with the paper.

The best groups were:

South park” with 1 min 17 s and very few sorting errors!

Scorpions” with 1 min 46 s and just as few mistakes!

The last group” with 1 min 52 s and super few mistakes!

Awesome work everyone!!!  :D   And please come to our meeting and tell us which word you got!  ;)

Please come see us on Hälsningsgillet (the general information market for all new students noon – 4 pm on Sept 2, the first HU meeting of the semester on Sept 5 at 5.15 pm in our office, or for the guided city tour on sustainable consumption on Sept 6 at 4 pm starting by Erikshjälpen, Stora Södergatan 25. It’s free of charge, open to everyone and held in English! Info flyer found here!

Vi vill ha dina gamla batterier!

Nästa vecka, den 7-11 februari, samlar HU in dina använda batterier!

We want your empty batteries!

Next week, February 7 to 11, HU is collecting your empty batteries! We are taking part in a national battery collection campaign run by Swedish Ecodemics and Avfall Sverige and the more used batteries we get from all Lund students, the closer we get to whooping some Uppsala ass!!  :)

So where can you leave your empty batteries?

  • StudentInfo, in the AF castle, will have a battery collection bin all week, accessible 10 am to 5 pm.
  • On Tue, Wed and Thu lunch breaks (noon to 1 pm) we will also be at the Ecology building on Sölvegatan 37 (near Chemistry, IKDC, and KÃ¥rhuset).

Those who hand in their batteries will receive a nice treat as a token of appreciation!

According to a survey by Avfall Sverige, 22% of Swedish 15 to 30-year-olds don’t recycle their batteries but throw them out with their household waste! Let us know you are not one of them!
